Communication Accommodations

Sign Language Interpreting, Real Time Captioning, FM System

If an approved accommodation for the student involves sign language interpreting, real-time captioning, or an FM system the student may arrange for this service with Disability Concerns. Use of sign language interpreting/real-time captioning or FM system must be approved by the Documentation Review Committee. The Case Coordinator will review the procedures with the student for requesting this assistance. Requests are made through the Nexus eAccommodations online request system. Requests for classes must be submitted as soon as a student has registered for classes. Requests for meetings or events must be submittes five (5) full business days prior to the event for which the student needs the accommodation.

The student's signature will be needed by the interpreter /real-time captionist on his/her time sheet to receive payment. The student needs to check the accuracy of the dates and times before signing.
